About the Artist
Born in the Buckeye State, Rick studied Geology at Oberlin College.
His metalsmithing career began after inheriting his grandmother's silversmithing
tools, leading him to exhibit in craft shows nationwide since 1992.
An avid photographer, his eye for detail led him to notice a heart-shaped
pothole in the fall of 2000, sparking the idea for a Valentine.
Inspired by that single image, Rick began
seeing hearts in shadows, clouds, puddles... everywhere. His collection
now numbers in the thousands. He currently resides in Washington DC.
